A Plantsman’s Brighton Garden—July 2024

All of you who were fortunate enough to attend the garden event at Jerry and Karen Kral’s on July 17, 2024, know that the evening was truly memorable. Jerry’s garden is unmatched, so large and varied, so many unusual plants. And so beautiful, everything seems meant to be growing together, in the perfect placement. It is hard to sum it up, with sunny areas and shade, tufa gardens, so many special conifers and other trees and shrubs, from miniature to grand, along with the choicest perennials, unusual succulents. One could spend many hours there trying to take it all in.

Many many thanks to Jerry and Karen who were so welcoming, and provided the delicious wine and the heavenly music. (The musicians were Denissa Rivas on flute and Raul Munguia on violin. They perform as Duo Capriccioso, duocapriccioso440@gmail.com).

Original event announcement

On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, 6:00 pm until dusk, FCGN will visit the Brighton, NY garden of Jerry Kral. We imagine that for most people, Jerry’s garden needs no introduction! It is certainly one of the top gardens in the Rochester area, large and multilayered, a true plantsman’s garden, and Jerry manages to use the most choice and unusual plants in a seamless and artful way so that every view is a beautiful combination of trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals, that you may never has seen before but just seem to have been made for each other. And for this year’s event, Jerry has generously offered to provide wine and entertainment for the evening. Sounds unmissable!
